Below is my hair regimen as of December 31, 2016. I do incorporate new products every now and then.
Wash Day 1-2 Times A Week
Detangle and Pre-poo
Lightly mist hair with water and apply moisturizing conditioner or detangling product. Detangle with fingers and seamless wide-tooth comb detangle the night before wash day. I sometimes pre-poo with Simply Nature Organic Coconut Oil (Aldi’s) or a hot oil treatment with grapeseed oil, safflower oil, or Queen Helene Cholesterol Oil.
Most shampoos (sulfate and sulfate-free) causes seborrhea dermatitis on my scalp, so I either use a cleansing conditioner to wash my hair or the Nizoral AD Anti‑Dandruff Shampoo. The Nizoral shampoo is the ONLY shampoo that I use on my scalp as it doesn’t cause dandruff and also prevents it. Weekly, I switch between shampoo and cowashing (lately I’ve been using more shampoo). Once a month I chelate/clarify with Jane Carter Healthy Hair Detox Shampoo.
Now that my hair is longer, I use a moisturizing deep conditioner every week. A few of my favorites include tgin Honey Miracle Hair Mask and the SheaMoisture Manuka Honey and Marfura Oil Hydration Intensive Masque. The deep conditioner is applied on my hair from root to tip heavily concentrating the product on the ends. I leave it on my hair covered with a shower cap without heat for an hour or with a hooded dryer for 20-30 minutes. See how I deep condition my hair here. I find that adding a very thin layer of a light oil (grapeseed or Jane Carter Healthy Hair Complex 4 Oil) to wet hair under the deep conditioner helps to replenish the cuticle layer. If I do not have time to deep conditioner, I will use a rinse out deep conditioner like tgin Triple Moisture Replenishing Conditioner. After rinsing out the deep conditioner with warm water, I follow up with cool water to smooth the hair strands. Then, I use a moisturizing leave-in conditioner and proceed to styling my hair.
I use a leave-in conditioner or cream to moisturize. It is done in sections from root to tip concentrating more product on the tips. At night, I usually pineapple my hair with a satin scarf. I also sleep on a satin pillow case. In the morning, I mist my hair lightly with water and fluff where needed.

Maintenance and Treatments
My hair is less rough, resilient, and retains more moisture when I incorporate hot oil treatments. This is done 1-2 times a month with safflower Oil, grapeseed Oil or Queen Helene Cholesterol Oil. To keep my hair strengthened, I apply an intense protein treatment like ApHogee 2 Step every 12 weeks. I always follow this up with a moisturizing deep conditioner. My hair is trimmed once every 2-3 months. I do utilize the search and destroy method every wash day if needed.
