Fall Favorites: Hair and Body
The Fall season is here! It is time to bring out our favorite boots and chic scarves. While we are making sure that we have the right clothing to keep us warm, it is also important to have products that protect your skin and hair. In the Fall, the weather can become very chilly, rainy, and windy which can wreak havoc on our skin and hair. Below, I have listed a few of my favorite hair and skin products for the Fall season.
Hair Body N’ Soul
Hair Body N’ Soul is a Black-owned skin and hair care company. All of their products are hand-made with no preservatives and chemicals. I lucked up on two of my Fall favorites during their annual 99 cent sale. I am not a fan of body butters per se. However, Hair Body N’ Soul’s Berry Sweet Body Butter and the Vanilla Candee Body Butter are both skin heaven in a jar.
I was walking around looking like Ashy Larry by the knees and elbows during the month of October. No matter how much I scrubbed and moisturized, the ash would come back. A visit to Wal-Mart helped me to discover equate™ Moisture Care Advanced Recovery Body Lotion (that is a mouthful). It is enriched with petroleum jelly. I know that petroleum jelly and mineral oil gets a bad rap in the Black hair community in general. However, they seal in moisture like no other and are even more awesome on my skin. My usual body lotion was not long-lasting which resulted in crusty skin. I will definitely keep using this throughout the fall and the winter.

Camille Rose Naturals
If you want your hair to smell like decadent sweet treats, then Camille Rose Naturals products are the way to go. I am particularly partial to the Camille Rose Naturals Curl Love Moisture Milk. Infused with Rice Milk and Macadamia Oil, it is the perfect hair moisturizer for the Fall. I love that it is creamy but not too thick which is perfect for protecting my hair from the cooler temperatures. It is also great as a leave-in conditioner.
The DevaCurl No-Poo Decadence® Zero Lather Ultra Moisturizing Milk Cleanser is the ultimate cleansing conditioner. It is not only great at cleaning oil and debris from my hair, but it is super hydrating which is a plus for the Fall season. Surprisingly, there are some co-washes that can strip hair and make it feel dry. This product is enriched with chufa milk and quinoa which provides intense moisture to my hair.
I have used the Alikay Naturals Moisture Rich Hair Parfait in the past for a great twist-out. However, lately I have used it as a sealant. I spray my hair with water and scrunch about a quarter-sized amount of the Hair Parfait into my hair. The result is hydrated butter-soft hair. The Fall winds and chilly weather can suck the moisture from my hair. Using this thicker sealant helps my hair to retain moisture.
